Wajima-nuri (輪島塗)
Wajima-nuri is a traditional Japanese lacquerware technique originating from Wajima City in Ishikawa Prefecture, known for its centuries-old artistry, exceptional elegance, intricate craftsmanship, and durability. The technique involves layering and polishing lacquer over bare wood, followed by intricate makie decoration using gold dust. Wajima-nuri is one of Japan's most prestigious lacquerware traditions and is designated as an "Important Intangible Cultural Manufacturing Technique". 

Cherry blossom ('sakura') design
The cherry blossom is one of the most iconic symbols in Japanese culture. It represents the beauty and transience of life, embodying the concept of 'mono no aware' (物の哀れ), which is an awareness of the impermanence and fleeting nature of all things.
